Welcome to Harlem Middle School!
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at Harlem Middle School!
As we prepare for another exciting year of learning and growth, I would like to personally welcome you and your student
to Harlem Middle School. Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. We recognize the importance of this
responsibility and remain committed to providing a safe, inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment where
every student can thrive.
Important Dates
➢ Schedule Walk-Through and Locker Practice
Students are invited to visit the building, walk their schedules, and practice opening their lockers during the following
times:
• Monday, August 3 – Thursday, August 6, 2026: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Friday, August 7, 2026: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
➢ Open House / Parent Night
• 6th Grade: Tuesday, August 11, 2026 | 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
• 7th & 8th Grades: Wednesday, August 12, 2026 | 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
➢ Student Schedules
Student schedules will be available during the week of August 3. Families can access schedules through Skyward.
➢ First Days of School
Thursday, August 13, 2026, will be dedicated exclusively to our incoming sixth-grade students as part of our annual
Welcome to the Pack day. This special day is designed to help students transition successfully to middle school by
allowing them to:
• Meet their teachers
• Learn school expectations
• Practice following their schedules
• Practice opening their combination lock
• Tour the building
• Participate in team-building activities
• Connect with classmates and staff
Students in Grades 7 and 8 will begin school on Friday, August 14, 2026.
➢ Student Backpack and Chromebook Recommendations
To help students navigate the school day comfortably and efficiently, we encourage families to consider a lightweight
drawstring backpack rather than a large, bulky backpack. Drawstring backpacks are easier for students to carry, fit well in
lockers, and provide ample space for daily school essentials.
We also strongly recommend purchasing a protective Chromebook sleeve. A sleeve helps protect the device from
accidental drops, spills, and everyday wear and tear, extending its lifespan and ensuring it remains available for learning
throughout the school year.
➢ School Supply List
The 2026–2027 school supply list is available on the Harlem Middle School website. Please review the list and ensure
your child has the necessary materials before the first day of school.
➢ Stay Connected
We ask all parents and guardians to verify that their contact information, including email addresses and phone numbers,
is up to date in Skyward. Accurate contact information helps us communicate important school updates, events, and
announcements throughout the year.
➢ Building Updates
Please pardon our dust as we continue several important improvements throughout the building this summer.
• Some hallways and common areas may appear cluttered during scheduled walk-through days (August 3–7) as
construction and maintenance projects are completed.
• For safety and security reasons, please adhere to the designated building hours listed above.
• All construction and preparation work is expected to be completed prior to the first day of school.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make improvements that will benefit our students and staff for
years to come.
➢ Looking Ahead
We are excited to begin another outstanding year at Harlem Middle School. By working together, students, families, and
staff, we can support academic success, personal growth, and a positive middle school experience for every student.
If you have questions, concerns, or would like to discuss your child's individual needs, please do not hesitate to contact
us. We value our partnership with families and look forward to working together throughout the year.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming our Huskies back to school and making the 2026–
2027 school year a great one!
Thank you,
Jerry Harris / Principal
