New Coach Checklist
COACHING REQUIREMENTS
All paid or volunteer coaches much have a valid Pupil Activity Permit before their season begins. Click the following link for information on obtaining the permit:

COACHING APPLICATIONS
Coaches that are new to the district need to complete the supplemental application linked below:

Once board approved, coaches new to the district will need to complete the new hire paperwork linked below. Be sure to return all required documents.

FINAL FORMS
Once board approved, coaches will be issued a Final Forms account. You should receive a confirmation email from final forms. Set up your account and upload all Coaching Certification Documents.

Pre-Season Checklist
Varsity Coaches - ensure that your coaching staff has been filled and board approved.
Varsity coaches are responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and recommending assistants to the Athletic Director.
Coaching staff must be filled according to the Negotiated Agreement.
Varsity coach is responsible for verifying that all assistants have the proper certifications.
Final Forms Roster check - are all athletes listed and green. Athletes with all required forms submitted will show as green.
Upload any updated coaching certificates to Final Forms - All coaches should be green as well.
Schedule scrimmages if applicable - scrimmages are not scheduled by Athletic Director.
Research your sport through books, websites, clinics and other resources. Contact the Athletic Director about attending clinics if interested.
Requisition needed supplies/equipment/team items - NOTHING should be ordered before a requisition has been submitted and approval has been given.
Requisitions (HN Staff Only)
Complete a purpose and budget statement for your FRA - Varsity Coaches ONLY.
Submit fundraising approval forms if planning a fund raiser. These need to be approved BEFORE beginning any fund raising activity.
Create a proposed practice schedule and submit to AD - school calendar link is below so you can check other scheduled activities.
Create a program outline/handbook for your team.
Varsity Coaches - Set a standard for lettering requirements.
Review the HN Athletic Policy with your team.
Establish an overall program policy for discipline, in-season expectations, conditioning, and off-season training.
Create a plan for the supervision of student athletes in all phases of the program including on the field/court, locker rooms, and pre/post practice.
Manage and support all program coaches, managers and support staff by providing access to all program materials as appropriate.
Check for dual participation athletes and prepare a schedule for them. Dual participation forms are linked below if needed.
Complete your Rules Interp Meeting through your myohsaa account - Varsity Coaches ONLY.
Set up your HUDL account - where appropriate.
Schedule a pre-season team and/or parent meeting.
Season Checklist
Create a roster in Final Forms. Be sure to include uniform numbers. Other pertinent information is coaches discretion.
Pass out uniforms.
Prepare Practice Plans.
Create game plans.
Fill out Bus Seating Chart.
Report Scores - list of emails for score report is below. Varsity should report stats and scores. Junior High should report at least scores to the local papers.
Record stats - where appropriate. Required for Varsity Coaches.
Report any injuries to the Athletic Director.
Post-Season Checklist
Collect and store uniforms/equipment.
Submit inventory to Final Forms.
Varsity Coaches - Submit team awards to Final Forms including letter winners and special awards winners.
Junior High Coaches - Check Final Forms to verify your roster reflects only the athletes who finished the season.
Complete post-season awards info (nwcc, district, etc).
Varsity Coaches enter final stats into MaxPreps. Can be entered during the season as well.
Put away all equipment - including outdoor equipment if applicable.
Clean up locker rooms, coaches offices, and storage areas.
Varsity Coaches - Evaluate your coaches - Submit to AD.
Meet with your varsity coach (assistants) or Athletic Director (varsity coaches) to go over your evaluation.
Submit requests for next year to AD - schedule, equipment, officials, etc
