Vine Grove Elementary School
The mission of the Hardin County Schools, in partnership with the family and the community, is to prepare students to be responsible citizens and lifelong learners in a global society.
Behind every number is a story. Last year KSA scores might just be a number to some but Mrs. Cockriel reveals the story behind it all. Vine Grove Elementary School scored 2nd overall in the district. Mrs. Cockriel says, “I feel very happy about our score results.” Third grade students test in the areas of reading and math. Fourth grade students test in reading, math, and science. While fifth graders test in reading, math, social studies, on demand writing, and editing/ mechanics. All subject areas scored in the top five across the district. I asked Mrs. Cockriel what students can do next year to grow even more. She said, “One recommendation is for students to read every night at home with their parents.” Mrs. Cockriel also said she was very proud of all the students at Vine Grove for working hard. Teachers also work so hard to give students the best lessons, and encourage them to do their best. Vine Grove Elementary School really is the best in the district!
When you practice the Four Ps, your teacher will send a positive office referral to Mr. Lundy monthly and he will announce your name on the intercom, Here are the people who were nominated in November, December, and January.

In December, our school took the Math I-Ready diagnostic and did amazing. We take this test three times a year so our teachers know what level of math we are in. From the first grade all the way up until you are in your last year of high school you will take the math i-Ready test. Last, I would like to give a shout out to Emelyn Richerson for getting the highest score in the fifth grade, but she wouldn't have been able to do this without Mrs. Cecil . After reading this, I hope you try your best on every math test you ever do.
We had so many great entries for our coloring contest, it was hard to choose winners! Each winner will receive a coin for our school's book vending machine.

If your family has finished reading The One and Only Ivan, we would love to see your creativity! Some possible book projects for your family to enjoy include designing a zoo setting, making a billboard to advertise the zoo, write a non-fiction report on gorilla and elephant facts, or learn how to make crayons and make a video showing the process. We would love to display your work! Bring any finished projects to Mrs. Duff. Look for details about our family movie night in the next issue of Vine Grove Views!
