TEAMS

Raiders

This special team is an athletic team that focuses on physical training, knot tying, and map reading. These cadets are working on team building and coordination to be able to work together when in competitions. They work on trust and liability to be able to corporate with each other. This team gets a special camouflage uniform called the OCP (Operational Camouflage  Pattern).

DRILL 

This special team is an Armed and Unarmed drill team that competes in multiple competitions throughout the school year. This competitions also involves being inspected at competitions in which the whole team is asked questions by inspectors and judged on their bearing, knowledge, and rifle manuals. The drill team competes by completing a regulation sequence that consists of rifle drill and marching. 

COLOR GUARD 

This special team is held to the highest standard. We are trained with the goal of team bonding, leadership and doing our best. We preform at competitions as well as ceremonies for anything from football games to military balls. In competition the team is judged on their bearing, rifle drill, flag drill, marching, and knowledge. This team is much more formal than the other teams and is dressed in ASU's (Army Service Uniform), but wear the OCP (Operational Camouflage  Pattern) on occasions.  

EXHIBITION

The exhibition team competes by performing a sequence of marching and rifle drill, but the drill they use is not regulated and they are able to do many moves that would otherwise be prohibited (spinning rifles, tossing rifles, throwing rifles, etc.).

RIFLE 

This special team consists of more individualized competitions and individual growth. It focuses on patience, focus and control. Cadets are trained how to properly handle and shoot a pellet rifle as well as the 3 positions for shooting, breath control, and gun safety measures. During competitions, all of these procedures are closely examined. In order to qualify for this team, you first must PASS a rifle/range safety test. 

ARCHERY 

This special team consists of more individualized competitions and individual growth. It focuses on patience, focus and control. Cadets are trained how to properly handle and shoot archery equipment. Like all of the teams, it promotes esprit de corps, teamwork and adds self-confidence. In order to qualify for this team, you first must qualify to be on the North Hardin High School Archery team.

JLAB 

This special team is based on problem solving and critical thinking. Cadets compete in the annual Academic Bowl using their JROTC Knowledge, Math, English, and Science skills along with current world event knowledge. By competing in the first two rounds of the competition, the cadets that compete have the chance of participating in the final round, which takes place in Washington D.C. Teams of four plus two alternates compete at a time.

HONOR GAURD

This special team is held to the highest standard. We are trained with the goal of team bonding, leadership and doing our best. We preform at ceremonies for anything from the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) events to military balls. In order to be apart of this team, the Cadet must previously served on the Drill or Color Guard team. This team is much more formal than the other teams and is dressed in ASU's (Army Service Uniform) with a belt and sword.
