With the objective of tying it all together, instructor and students do a close reading of the Sample Multi-Style Essay. This an opportunity to read while closely analyzing the text for writing patterns chosen by the author to match her purpose for writing and present her evidence effectively.
Brief review of Brush-up, including discussion and answering student questions. Students have opportunity to look back over their Brush-up materials to search for anything on which they’d like clarification or more practice before taking the assessment. For example, taking time to go over the Writing Scoring Rubric would be helpful before the assessment.
Students work independently on College Reading and Writing Brush-up ASSESSMENT, taking as much time as needed (within reason) to complete it to best of their ability.
