Message from Miss Emson
Welcome to our first newsletter of the summer term - well summer is putting it mildly. Please remember to ensure children do have coats as the weather is so temperamental and cold at the moment.
Can I take this opportunity to politely remind parents about the parking outside of school. The yellow zig-zags are there for a reason and a number of complaints are coming in from the public regarding parking and dropping off children. The council have been informed and will be doing spot fines as this is a recurring issue. Ultimately we have to safeguard all children and adults in and around the site and this is just not safe. Cameras could be installed by the council which take the registrations of cars and issue automatic fines.
Cones will be placed there to stop this from happening but in the meantime, please refrain from parking directly outside of school.
Please read the diary dates below as there are lot of additions.

Our reading ambassadors for the past year have done a fantastic job and we would all like to thank them for giving up their time. Pupils have now given applications to Mrs Wood, our reading lead, and she is in the process of picking new reading ambassadors. These pupils keep the reading area tidy, they read to younger children and help in different ways to help all pupils in our school develop a love of reading. The new reading ambassadors will be announced next week.
Please encourage your child to read at home at least three times a week. It only needs to be 15 minutes at a time.
The table below shows the percentage of children in each class who have read three times last week. Green means the score has stayed the same or gone up. Orange means the score has gone down.
Please note the school will be closed on Friday July 5th for the Harbour Learning Trust Training Day.
Term dates can be found on our website at : https://gca.harbourlearningtrust.com/our-academy/term-dates/
Teams of girls and boys from Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in cross country on Tuesday 16th April. It was a wet and windy day but the amazing athletes persevered, running around the course at Weelsby Woods. The staff who took our children were so proud of their incredible behaviour and attitude on the day.
On Thursday 18th April, a team of Year 6 boys took part in New Age Kurling at Oasis Acadmy Winteringham. We didn't win but came very close and throughout the afternoon the team demonstrated incredible focus, skill and determination. They even won the award for the most passionate team! Once again, our pupils made us so proud.
On Friday 3rd May, the Year 1 and 2 children will be showing off their incredible design and technology skills in a "Trashion show". Miss O'Neill will be modelling a dress that the children have designed and created with the help of local artists, Rachel Mc Williams and Elizabeth Hullatt-Richardson. The dress is made completely of recycled materials. The whole trust fashion show will be held at Projekt Renewable beside the Heritage Centre from 11 am to 1pm. Parents are welcome to attend to see creations from the whole of Harbour Learning Trust.
