Newsletter
Wednesday 16th July
Message from Miss Emson
This is the last newsletter of the year and what a packed one it is!
The school reopens on 3rd September for the children. I am sending an additional letter via email regarding the new changes in the government law for attendance which come into effect from August. The infographic of key points is shared on this newsletter and will continue to be shared as a reference guide for you.
Please also refer to our uniform section too especially before buying items before September. Trainers are not permitted. Children will receive a book bag and water bottle and they have PE bags already so there is no need to source additional bags. More information will be shared at the start of next term with regards to the term ahead, although some dates have been shared in advance on this newsletter.
Whilst the school is closed over the holidays, emails are checked regularly so if you need to get in touch then please email: gcaenquiries@harbourlearningtrust.com.
We will be sending out our safeguarding newsletter too on Friday so there will be lots of contact information on there.
Thank you for all of your support this year, enjoy the summer and stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all in the autumn term.
Miss Emson
Principal
The table below shows the percentage of children in each class who have read three times last week. Green means the score has stayed the same or gone up. Orange means the score has gone down.
Well done to those classes who have kept up their reading at home until the end of term. We hope you continue reading over the summer to keep those skills up!
We are sad to let you know that we are saying goodbye to some of our long-serving staff. Mrs Fowler, Miss Regan and Mrs Stocks are all leaving for new endeavors and we would like to thank them for their dedication and hard work in school. All three members of staff have played important roles in the school and have given vast amounts of support to the pupils over the years, making an impact to the lives of many pupils past and present. We will miss them and wish them all the best for the future.
Due to Mrs Fowler leaving, we will not have tuck shop this week but tuck shop will return in September.
This week teachers will collect book bags and reading books in to pass to new teachers. Please can all books be returned to school. We will be issuing new water bottles to all pupils in September. Please can all PE bags be taken home and kept for the new year.
Please can we remind parents of the shool expectations for school uniform.

The pupils once again showed off their incredible talents on Friday 12th July with an amazing talent show. We had magic, dance, singing, beat boxing, piano playing, drumming, cheerleading, football skills and stand-up comedy. It really was a most amazing aftenoon, topped off with a suprise visit from Simon Cowell. 😜😁 Well done to every pupil who performed. It wasa extremely difficult for the judges to pick winners. They were all so brave to get up on stage and they all did so well. Please visit Twitter for more photos and videos of the event.
On Wednesday 10th July, Year 3 pupils took part in a 'Stone Age Day,' in school. They had an archealogical dig hunting for fossils, hunted animals, following fake poo, tried flint napping to make arrow heads, made stone age bowls, sketched and made bows and arrows.
They have continued their exciting learning this week by making stone age bread.

We have recieved our end of year results for the tests in year 2 and Year 6. Below is a table showing the results. As you can see the pupils have once again achieved very highly in the end of year Sats; significantly above the National Expectations in all areas. Well done children! Thank you to all parents for supporting the pupils to read, practise spellings and times tables, and get children to extra revision sessions. Thank you as well to the team of teachers and support staff for putting in the extra hours and effort to achieve these fantastic results.
The hall looked spectacular for the Year 5 Graduation on Monday 8th July, where the pupils received their purple jumpers. Thank you to all of the parents who attended the event.
The Reception pupils had a wonderful day out on Tuesday 1st July at the Skegness Aquarium. The children were all very well behaved and had a great time as part of their topic, "What is Out There?"
On Thursday 11th July, Year 6 visited Cleethorpes for a well deserved end of year trip. The pupils travelled by train and had a delicious fish and chips lunch.

We are very proud that two of our children have won awards for their work on Empathy Day. Sasha and Jenson won prizes for their empathy glasses and power poses. We are also proud to have been chosen as a showcase school by Empathy Lab who run Empathy Day. Just look at the amazing posters they have created about the school.
On Monday 15th July, Year 4 and 5 were visited by the amazing sisters Kirsten and Aiyven Mbawa to work with the pupils on their creative writing. The young ladies (16 years old) have published books and now give inspirational talks about their work. They spoke to the pupils about their books and about diversity.
