Message from Miss Emson
We're fast approaching Easter which means we're almost 2/3 of the way through the school year! Where does the time go?
We've decided as we've had such a busy term and after the tremendous efforts for World Book Day, we thought if people wanted to pay homage to 'Easter' then we will be celebrating by bringing in your Easter creations - this can be anything you've made that is linked to Easter. There'll be prizes in every class!
Please go through the newsletter for all of the wonderful things we have been doing so far this half term!
Enjoy your weekends and hopefully will see some shoots of spring soon enough!

Reading
Please encourage your child to read at home at least three times a week. It only needs to be 10 to 15 minutes at a time.
The table below shows the percentage of children in each class who have read three times last week. Green means the score has stayed the same or gone up. Orange means the score has gone down.

HARBOUR LEARNIING TRUST TRAINING DAY
Please note the school will be closed on Friday July 5th for the Harbour Learning Trust Training Day.
Red Nose Day
For Red Nose Day, the children have been raising money by taking part in an assault course in the hall. There were quite a few red faces by the time they had finished but everyone enjoyed themselves, all for a good course. Thank you to the parents and children for their donations and thank you to the student ambassadors, Mrs Brown and Mrs Omon for making it happen.
World Book Day Celebrations
On Friday 8th March, the school took part in World Book Day activities. We all came dressed as Villians and studied the wonderful book 'Inside the Villains' by Clotilde Perrin. The children created some amazing work and really enjoyed the book. At the end of the day, the childen visited a different teacher to listen to a book. Thank you to the parents for supporting the day. The children looked fantastic in their outfits.

Author Video Calls
To celebrate World Book Day some of our classes got the chance this year to take part in video calls with popular children's authors. Year 2 spoke to Joseph Coelho, Year 3 and 4 spoke to John Green the illustrator.
Harbour Learning Trust World Book Day Video
Harbour Learning Trust have created a fabulous video with children from all over the trust, showing why our children love reading so much. We think our children are the best!
Parent Drop Ins
Thank you to everyone who has been supporting our parent drop in sesions. We held a Compass Go drop in on 28th February which was well attended.
The next parent drop in for this term is with SENDIASS ( Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service) on 27th March. All parents with questions about Special Educational Needs are welcome.
Grim Fest Art Exhibition
In the autumn term, we were visited by Sarah Palmer who illustrated the book 'Grim, A Legend, A Truth and A Secret' by Tracey Todd. Year 5 and 6 pupils used the book as an inspiration for their own Viking artwork.
On Friday 9th February an exhibition was opened in the Fishing Heritage Centre all about the story of the Viking Grim. Children, parents and staff from the school were invited to the exhibition and we had a great time.
The book and the children's work are featured at the Museum. You can find the children's artwork in the cafe area of the Heritage Centre. Sarah said the children were very creative and were some of the best artists she had seen.
Trashion Show
Year 1 and 2 children have been very busy this half term creating an outfit for an event which will be held in the summer term with Harbour Learning Trust. There will be a whole trust fashion show and we are very pleased to have the help of two local artists, Rachel Mc Williams and Elizabeth Hullatt-Richardson from the Creative Schools Project to help us with our entry. Full details of the event will be sent out next term.
Communication with school
If you wish to speak to a member of staff, or pass on information, you can contact the school by telephone on 01472 808608. Our school email address is :- gcaenquiries@harbourlearningtrust.com .
This email address is monitored constantly, every day and enquiries on this address will be dealt with promptly. Please do not use any other Harbour Learning Trust email to contact school as this will not be picked up by school promptly. You can also speak to staff on the school gates or on the doors. You can also use the messaging system on Class Dojo, but bear in mind that, as teachers are teaching all day, they may not read Class Dojo until the end of the school day, or the next day, therefore important messages need to be sent to the School Office on the above email address.
We pride ourselves on the safe and friendly atmosphere in and around our school. Parents who are aggressive or abusive will be asked to leave and the police called if necessary.
Attendance
Good attendance is classed as 96% and above.
We are delighted to have received an attendance award for the autumn term. We are in the top 10% of all FFT Primary Schools in England. Thank you to all our children, parents, carers and staff for your continued support.
Pease read the posters below to see the effect of poor attendance.
