Monday 1st July
Message from Miss Deans
We are having a wonderful summer term so far in school. The children have all been really enthusiastic about the topics they are learning and are still working hard. We have had loads of special events and we still have more to come. Thank you to parents for your support with the various events. It is very much appreciated and brings us all together as a community.
Please can parents be aware of the changeable 'summer' weather. There are days forecast with sunshine and showers so it is helpful if pupils can still bring a jacket on those days.
Miss Deans
Vice Principal
Please encourage your child to read at home at least three times a week. It only needs to be 15 minutes at a time.
The table below shows the percentage of children in each class who have read three times last week. Green means the score has stayed the same or gone up. Orange means the score has gone down.
Please note the school will be closed this Friday, July 5th for the Harbour Learning Trust Training Day.
Term dates can be found on our website at : https://gca.harbourlearningtrust.com/our-academy/term-dates/
Nursery, Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 have all had sports days this week. All the pupils had practised hard, we were blessed with excellent weather and everyone enjoyed the activities. Red team got the most points in the Foundation Stage and KS1 Sports Day and Blue team got the most points in the KS2 Sports Day.
Thank you to all the parents who came and supported the day and cheered their children on.

A new Starbucks has opened next to Beechwood Farm and we were invited to the opening! Miss Emson had the special privilege of cutting the red ribbon to open the restaurant. Thank you to the pupils and parents who were able to come out at short notice early in the morning.
A group of Year 2 pupils took part in the NEL Schools Sports Partnership Quad Kids Athletics Tournament on Thursday 13th June. The pupils represented the school brilliantly, winning lots of races and taking part with excellent enthusiasm. Well done to all of them. Congratulations to Louis C who was the top scoring boy across all of the schools in the events.
On Monday 10th June, HSBC visted the school and spoke to the pupils about the very important subjects of money, banks, saving and borrowing.
All pupils have learnt about Water Safety in the last few weeks. They have found out about the dangers of playing around water how to keep safe and have made water safety posters.;
Thank you to all of the parents that supported the cake sale and book sale last Friday. We really appreciate the support given by parents for events like this.

Please read instructions that have been sent out be secondary schools for what you need to do on the day. We wish all of our pupils good luck.
Year 5 visited Healing Secondary on 21st June for a French and Geography Taster Day. On Tuesday 16th July , they will have the chance to go to Healing Secondary again and take part in a Science Day. Letters are going out this week about Year 6 catch-up swimming lessons. The children in Year 6 will be visiting John Whitgift Academy in the last two weeks of term for cathc up swimming lessons.
