Mrs. Gervasio
Hello, families. My name is Deanna Gervasio, and I have been working in the Hanover Township Public School District for 23 years. I started off my career in Hanover teaching special education at Salem Drive School and moved to Mountview Road School in 2015. Each year has deepened my commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for every student. I look forward to working together to make this year a fantastic experience filled with growth, learning, and success. Reading
Students are encouraged to read for 15-20 minutes each night. This can be done independently or with a parent or guardian. Reading together offers a great opportunity to bond and build your child's literacy skills.
Math
For math homework, focus on practicing basic math facts and reviewing current topics covered in class. Here are some helpful ways to make studying fun and effective: flashcards, math games (online or apps), daily practice with real-life math, and practice sheets.
For more up to date and daily information, please refer to your child's agenda book.
Create a Dedicated Workspace and Build a Homework Routine.
-Choose a quiet area where your child can focus and keep their materials organized.
-Be available for questions, but encourage your child to try independently first. This boosts problem-solving skills and confidence.
Foster Independence and Responsibility
-Give age-appropriate tasks and allow children to make small decisions, like organizing their school supplies or packing their snack and/or lunch.
-Teach them to manage their time and prioritize tasks.
-Let them experience small challenges and solve problems so they learn resilience.
Encourage Healthy Habits for a Good Night's Sleep
-Set a consistent bedtime and follow a calming nighttime routine.
-Limit screens before bed to promote better sleep.
