Dracula
by
Bram Stoker
goodreads Rating: 4.03/5 stars
When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a London house, he makes a series of horrific discoveries about his client. Soon afterwards, various bizarre incidents unfold in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby; a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck; and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the 'Master' and his imminent arrival.
In Dracula, Bram Stoker created one of the great masterpieces of the horror genre, brilliantly evoking a nightmare world of vampires and vampire hunters. ~goodreads

Banned Books Week
October 4th - 10th
Every year books are challenged. Some of those books are banned and removed from libraries. Last year, 4,235 unique titles were a target of censorship. These “Challenges” are not just complaints about books, but willful attempts to remove or restrict access. No one has the right to censor books or abridge the rights of others.
~American Library Association
The American Library Association works to protect our right to read.

Pen America tracks bans and censorship in school and public libraries across the country. They reported that in the 2025-2026 school year, there were nearly 12,000 instances of book bans in public schools. 58% of those banned books were young adult titles. They also noted that during the 2024-2025 school year, 48% of banned books dealt with grief or death, and that non-fiction books bans doubled. Of those, they found that 52% of the 1, 102 banned non-fiction titles featured themes of activism and social movements. For more information on Pen America's work with banned books, visit their Book Bans page.
