4th Grade with Mrs. Bos
Week 26
In class, our 4th graders are learning about the book of Psalms in the Bible. We are talking about how the Psalms are poems and songs that share many different feelings—like joy, thankfulness, sadness, and trust in God. This can be a great chance to start conversations at home. You might ask your child which Psalm they liked or what it made them think about. We hope these discussions help connect what we’re learning in class to your family time at home!
Grandparents' Day is coming up THIS Friday, February 27th. Following our Grandparents' Day activities, the seventh grade class will be hosting an In 'N' Out lunch fundraiser on our campus. Each meal consists of a cheeseburger, a bag of potato chips, and a bottle of water. Consider bringing a blanket and making it a picnic, or you may eat your lunches at any of the picnic tables across the campus. Lunch will be available beginning at 11:30 and tables will be set up outside the 4th and 5th grade classrooms. The cost for each meal is $10; please bring cash or a check (payable to Hanford Christian School). You can use this Google Form to express interest in the fundraiser: In N Out Lunch
This fundraiser helps fund the students' trip to Washington DC in the spring of 2027. This is a wonderful trip and an experience they will never forget. Additionally, our school is hosting a book sale in the gym. When you have finished eating, please check it out.
The library will host a book fair with I55 in the gym, Feb.23-27. Students will have the opportunity to preview books and create a “wish list” of books which interest them. They will be able to make purchases during their usual library visit. If you choose to send payment with them, please remember to add appropriate tax. The book fair will also be open after school, Monday -Friday . Refer to the “Warrior” for after-school sales schedule, as well as a code for online sales. HCS will receive a portion of the sales for book purchases!

This week, please have students show you their binder and planner each day! This will help them get into the habit of checking it themselves daily throughout the year.
We are working on 2 week spelling/roots units. This is a test week, here is a link to the Quizlet that your students can use to study definitions.
This year, we are really focusing on making sure that students know their math facts well, so we will be taking a timed test each day in class. Each day will focus on a different operation. Each quarter, the kids have a goal of how many facts they should be able to complete in 1 minute. For quarter 3, that goal is 35 problems in a minute, in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students who feel they could improve their score may also retest these days to improve their grade. After a student retests, their grade will be updated in FACTS.
If you notice a low grade in one of their time tests, please practice with your child at home! If requested, I can send home extra tests and you can time them. We also made flash cards in class. Multiplication.com is also a great resource that has timed tests in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division that are easy to practice with. Please let me know if you have any questions about this grading system.
