Recognize Student Accomplishments

•  I will display student work in the hallway and in the classroom

•  I will share pictures and class information with the Hancock Newspaper as well as put them on my website

•  I will handout Character Trait awards and the end of the quarter

• Verbally and/or in writing acknowledge above and beyond work and behaviors

Have High Expectations for Student Performance

• State academic standards will determine appropriate lessons, themes, and curriculum throughout the year

•  I will communicate consistently with parents

•  As a class we will create, discuss and post classroom rules/expectations (I will communicate these with parents)

• Daily and long term learning targets will be shared so students understand what they are learning and why it is important. 

Incorporate Technology in Instruction:

• First graders will interact daily with the Smartboard

•  Students will have access to Chromebooks in the classroom 

• I will update my webpage for students and parents

• Students will use a variety of websites to work on reading fluency and comprehension 

Effectively Evaluate Student Performance and Use Evaluation Data to Drive Instruction and Improve Curriculum:

•  Fast Bridge help determine individual student needs in reading

• Formative assessments (observations, exit tickets, class discussions, independent work, and student conferences) will be used to make daily instructional decisions.

• I will analyze assessment data to differentiate instruction and provide targeted interventions and enrichment opportunities.

• I will create and work with needs-based small groups in reading and math to help students master specific skills and meet individual learning goals.

•  I will create and work with needs based groups in both reading and math to target and master specific skills

•  I will collaborate with colleagues, intervention staff, and special education teachers to analyze student data and develop effective instructional plans.

• I will actively participate in Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings to review student data, share instructional strategies, and collaborate on best practices.

• I will attend professional development opportunities, teacher workshops, conferences, and district trainings to strengthen my instructional practices and remain current on research-based teaching strategies.

Provide Individual Assessment that is targeted to Improve Student Performance:

•  Para assistance in the classroom

•  Title 1 assistance in Reading and Math

• I will be available to meet with students before and after school for additional help

•  I will be available to meet with students during recess

• ADSIS (will help students who are below target to reach their target)

• I will communicate with parents 

Encourage Parents, Teachers, Staff, and the Community in School Activities and Learning Opportunities:

• Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to come into the classroom to lead centers once a week

• I will communicate with parents via phone, email, teacher webpage and a weekly newsletter

• Volunteers are welcome to help with different classroom parties (Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day)

• Volunteers are encouraged to chaperone field trips
