When you want to read, there are two ways to access books from our library. Students can check out books during their Library time or when granted permission from their teacher to visit during an open period. Destiny Discover lets you search for bound books and e-books available at Forrest. Destiny can be accessed through the Clever App or using the above link.
Check Out Policies
Responsible book care is an important part of our library program. All students in grades 2-5 are able to check out and take home 2 books at a time on their scheduled library visit. Kindergarten and First-grade students can also check out 2 books at a time, but their books remain at school for them to enjoy in their classroom libraries.
Your child must return their library book before another book can be checked out. We do not charge fines for overdue books, but parents/guardians are required to pay the replacement cost if loaned items are lost, damaged, or not returned in a timely manner.
Responsible Book Care
Keep food and drinks away from library books! (Sticky fingers and spills can make pages dirty and cause permanent damage).
Do not draw or make marks in the books
Create or select a special place in your home to keep library books away from toddlers or family pets. (Books that are left outside are often damaged beyond repair! Keep them away from nature.)
Have your child always place their book in their bookbags after reading it.
Taking on the responsibility of caring for borrowed items is an important life skill. I hope you will help me encourage your child to take special care of their library books.
