Math:

Participate in fun and engaging instruction by licensed mathematics educators designed to support students' understanding of mathematics. Students will have the opportunity to interact with their teacher and other students using collaborative small groups. To develop a community of learners, students will participate in weekly team-building and social-emotional learning activities that require the application of mathematics. Students will also participate in Out of the Box lessons designed to extend mathematics concepts through a focus on numeracy, computation, measurement, and functions.

Materials: Students will need their Chromebook (or another device) to access instructional materials along with paper and pencils. All other materials, handouts, and presentations will be provided to students via their instructor.

Language Arts:

HCS suggests all students who will be in the 6th through 8th grades participate in summer reading.

For more information regarding the summer reading, please see the summer reading letter.  HCS encourages students and their families to continue reading through the summer months. Students who read during the summer place themselves in a stronger position for a successful start to the school year.

If you have any questions about summer reading, please feel free to contact your child’s school or the Hampton City Schools Language Arts Department at 757-727-2485.  Have a safe and fun summer!
