Online Resources

The Hampton City Schools Information Literacy department has subscriptions with many online resources. You can access these resources through our Clever portal. Please contact Melanie Parker at mparker1@hampton.k12.va.us if you have any trouble accessing these resources.

Destiny is the school library catalog. From the launch page enter your school. You can search as a guest or log in with your HCS username and password. Click the image to access.

MackinVIA is the place to go to access eBooks. From the launch page enter your school and then click the Log In button. You will then need to enter your HCS username and password.

The TumbleBookLibrary is a collection of TumbleBooks (animated, talking picture books) with fiction, non-fiction and foreign language titles, Read-Alongs (chapter books with sentence highlighting and narration but no animation), Ebooks which may be viewed online,Tumble Puzzles & Games, and TumbleResources for teachers and students.

TumbleBookCloud is a collection of videos and chapter books in categories which include: Ebooks, Read-Alongs, Graphic Novels, Videos (from National Geographic!), and Audio Books

Epic is a digital reading platform with a collection of over 40,000 ebooks, audio books, and videos.

Sora is a student reading app that provides access to ebook and audiobooks from HCS. You can add libraries to Sora by following these directions. Add the Library of Virginia now.

World Book Online is a suite of online research tools that includes encyclopedia articles, primary source collections, educator tools, student activities, pictures, audio, and video, complemented by current periodicals and related websites. Click the image to learn more and access resources.

Gale provides students with dozens of reliable database and ebook resources. Click the image to start exploring.

PebbleGo is the award winning PreK-3 database for reading and research. The PebbleGo databases make learning and improving reading and research skills fun, building on children’s interest. PebbleGo offers four databases: PebbleGo Animals and PebbleGo Science, PebbleGo Biographies and PebbleGo Social Studies. Databases are simple to navigate and offer key reading supports such as read-along audio and word-by-word highlighting.

eMediaVA is a digital media distribution system featuring educational content including videos, online course materials, and documents. It is searchable by SOL and provided by the Virginia Public Media Stations and PBS.
