The Hollywood to Hampton program teaches high school students the basic elements of writing, producing, filming, and editing short films, resulting in three 10-15 minute short film scripts to be filmed during the summer of 2026 and entered into the 2026 Next Generation Storytellers Film Festival.
There are three major parts to this project:
Screenwriting 101 (weeks 1-9)
Movies 101 (Weeks 11-28)
Production & Post-Production (Weeks 28)
Goals of the Hampton to Hollywood Program include:
Increase authentic and relevant learning experiences through combining education and entertainment
Bring new attention and potential revenue to Hampton by elevating the area and the talent that resides here.
Increase writing scores throughout the division through a fun, scaffolded screenwriting curriculum.
