One Community, One Transformation!
Hampton City Schools is proud to be the home of Joint Base Langley-Eustis and serve students and families representing every branch of our nation's military.
We recognize the challenges that are unique to our military-connected families. We hope that this page will serve as a “one-stop shop” to assist with transitioning to and from our division, as well as an “at your fingertips” resource to your frequently asked questions.

The Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity
For Military Children
Hampton City Schools adheres to the Interstate Compact §22.1-360. The purpose of this compact is to “remove barriers to educational success imposed on children of military families because of frequent moves and deployment of their parents.”
Col. Brandon Tellez speaks to our Citizens of the Month
Hampton City Schools works collaboratively with local city leaders, state policymakers, including the Virginia General Assembly and the Virginia State Board of Education, in order to achieve the legislative goals of the School Board and promote the positive leadership of the school division regarding education policy and financing.
Hampton City Schools values and promotes the engagement of families and the community in our schools. These interactions and opportunities strengthen the experiences of our students, provide the community with direct knowledge of learning taking place in our schools, and enhance the relationships and bonds within our community. If your organization would like to donate school supplies or items for our families, or you would like for us to attend a community event, please email JOliver1@hampton.k12.va.us with event information and we will gladly respond.
In order to be able to provide our students, staff, families and community a safe and secure environment in which to learn, we must have a protocol in place that establishes the procedures for volunteering with Hampton City Schools sponsored activities. This protocol is in place for the safety and security of everyone and establishes a consistent process to apply to become an HCS volunteer.
The HCS Office of Community and Government Relations is a proud partner of the Hampton Education Foundation (HEF). HEF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping youth succeed and to supporting the Hampton School System.
The Hampton Education Foundation directly supports Hampton City Schools, impacting the lives of more than 21,000 students and educators through annual and endowment support ensuring a transformative future for our community.

Hampton City Schools Goes Greener!
In the past, our schools sent home flyers in students’ backpacks. As part of our efforts to be more environmentally friendly, to embrace innovative technology, and to reach more families, we are moving from paper to a free digital flyer delivery method using the company Peachjar, Inc. An organization requesting flyer distribution must be a qualified nonprofit organization in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service, an agency of the City of Hampton, an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia, or a post-secondary institution in the City of Hampton.
With our Peachjar eflyer program, the eflyers may be sent directly to parents’/guardians’ email inboxes. Please visit the Peachjar Link to set up your Peachjar account, and learn how to upload your flyers today.
