I am Love Kane, currently a second grade teacher here at Aberdeen Elementary School. I have been in the education field for 5 years. Initially I began in this field as an E.R.I. A. with time and effort I transitioned into teaching. In addition to teaching , I am a site Coordinator for University Corner. My educational background includes a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. I grew up in downtown Newport news, Virginia as an only child. I have two brothers, nephews and a niece. My parents are deceased.
In my free time running is my outlet. I also enjoy reading, traveling, and fine dining.
James Wright has been a teacher with Hampton City Schools for 5 years. He has spent 4 years as a special education inclusion teacher and 1 year as a self contained special education teacher. I graduated from Virginia State University with my degree in Public Administration. I began my professional career as a Juvenile Services Intake Specialist before entering the Cohort program with Hampton City Schools and Old Dominion University. The entirety of my teaching career has been at Aberdeen elementary school where I have worked 21st Century as a Tutor and Site Coordinator and now University Corner as a Site Coordinator
My name is Amanda Hassell and I am the Reading Specialist at Patrick Elementary. I have worked with Hampton City Schools for 15 years. I received my Bachelor's in Liberal Studies from Longwood University and my Master's in Reading Curriculum and Instruction from Old Dominion University. I am looking forward to serving our Panthers as the University Corner coordinator.
Bobbi Carroll is the School Counselor at Armstrong. She was born and raised in HCS and has been with the division for 4 years. Her favorite part about being an educator is watching the “aha” moments and making connections with students.
I am Aimee Ryder, Literacy Support Specialist at Forrest Elementary.I received my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Christopher Newport University and my Masters Degree from ODU in reading. I have been in HCS for 20 years. I have worked in the 21stC/UC programs for 15 years and wholeheartedly believe in the mission and vision of these amazing programs.I am thrilled to be supporting the staff and students of Armstrong Elementary's UC program this summer.
My name is Michelle Bowers. I have taught in HCS for 29 years and am currently a 1st grade teacher at Armstrong. I am one of the Armstrong Coordinators.
Hello, my name is Wynter Latimer and I'm excited to join University Corner as a coordinator for Barron. I have been with HCS for 3 years, all of which have been as an Inclusion IA at Barron working with all grade levels. I am retired Air Force and received my Bachelor's in Early Childhood education during my time in service. I look forward to working with the students and what this program has to offer them.
Hello, my name is Mrs. Charnita R. Clements and it is an honor to serve as the site coordinator for Barron Elementary. Which we affectionately call, "Barron Village."
I have been at Barron since 2017 as the professional school counselor.
I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Longwood University.
I'm so excited to show my students through the University Corner program that they are capable of doing GREAT things!
Emily Sims is a School Counselor at Burbank Elementary. She has been with HCS for 4 years. Her favorite part of being an educator is connecting with children and seeing them smile and laugh.
I graduated from Old Dominion University with a Masters in Education and have been a fourth grade teacher at Burbank Elementary School for ten years. I love having the chance to interact with students and I love learning as well as teaching! My hobbies include reading crime novels and spending quality time with my two beautiful granddaughters!
Hello, my name is Sharonda Downing. I have been an Instructional Assistant for HCS since 2017. I started in Kindergarten and am currently in Special Education. I have a Bachelor's in Business Administration and I am currently working on a dual Master's in Early Childhood Education and Special Education.
Mrs. Bryant received her bachelor degree at Hampton University and double masters from Liberty University. She currently teaches Special Education and is working on her Ed.S in Administration at Liberty University. She has been teaching with HCS for 5 years and has been involved with 21st Century for 3 years. Being a part of this program has allowed her to build relationships with her students beyond the classroom with hands-on activities with academic support.
I am a fourth grade teacher at Kraft Elementary School and I will be serving as the University Corner Coordinator this school year. I received my B.S. from Morgan State University and attended Regent University for my Master's in Educational Leadership. I am currently in the Doctorate program at Regent University working toward my degree in K-12 School Leadership.
Hello, my name is Alison Wescott and I am the Reading Specialist at Langley Elementary. I have spent the last 18 years with HCS . I received my Bachelor's degree from Longwood College and my Master's degree from Old Dominion University. I'm looking forward to supporting our students as the coordinator of University Corner here at Langley.
Ms. Kristin McGlaughlin has over 23 years in the field of education. She is a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. She has taught every grade in Elementary School except 2nd grade. In addition, she owned an Educational Company helping with the VA SOLs for seven years. She was a parent and community coordinator for 6 years at Tarrant Elementary. Currently, she is a fifth- grade teacher at Langley Elementary.
I have been employed with Hampton City Schools in different capacities since 2003. I am currently a Special education Teacher and have been working with 21st Century CCLC for 5 years, with the past 2 years serving as a site coordinator. My hobbies include crafting, and outdoor activities such as gardening and camping.
Hello! My name is Janet Heller and I am in my 19th year with Hampton City Schools. I am the math interventionist at Machen Elementary, and I love watching those lightbulb moments when kids finally get a concept that they had been struggling with! I am a Colorado native (Go Broncos!), have 2 grown daughters, and 2 fur babies named Bella and Angel. I love the ocean life and love calling Hampton my home!
My name is Crystal Rosey and I am the School Counselor at Machen Elementary School and have been for the past six years. I am serving as one of three incredible Site Coordinators for Machen's 21st Century Program. My husband and I have two children together and three bonus children and a lovable Miniature Schnauzer, who are the loves of our lives.

After graduating from Christopher Newport University in 2005, I continued my education and obtained my Master of Arts in Teaching degree and have been happily teaching for the last 17 years. I have taught grades K-3 in Virginia and in North Carolina. I have been at Mary Jackson Elementary for the last 12 years and spent the last 6 years in Kindergarten, my happy place! I'm happily married to my husband, Cyrous, who is also an educator and we have 2 children, Espn and Lakelyn.
Hello! I am honored, thankful, and excited to be able to continue serving the staff, students and families of Phenix as one of the site coordinators. After serving in the US Army, I began serving the Phenix community in 2011 as a 4th grade teacher. I have a Bachelors in Elementary Education from VWU and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Regent University.
