Research is the way we find facts and solve problems in an organized way. We do research by using what we already know and building on it. To organize your research it is helpful to follow these steps: Ask questions, Gather information, Organize information, Prepare, Present, and Evaluate. Because research is an activity of discovery, feel free to move between the steps as necessary.
Welcome!
Hampton City Schools recognizes that the act of research builds better learners. This makes it an essential skill for all grade levels and in all curriculum. In order to assist, HCS uses the AGOPPE research model as a guide to developing effective research skills. Each letter of the acronym stands for a part of the process--Ask questions, Gather information, Organize information, Prepare, Present, and Evaluate. This website is designed to assist both students and teachers, with additional “Educator Content” located at the bottom of each page. Your school librarian is also available to assist and is a valuable partner throughout the research process.
