What is an asynchronous remote learning day?
Asynchronous learning means that teachers and students engage with the course content or assignments at different times and from various locations. Teachers provide students with a structured sequence of lessons or activities, allowing students to progress through them at their own pace remotely. Therefore, teachers will not need to use Zoom to deliver “live” instruction on an asynchronous remote learning day. However, teachers will need to be available via email, ParentSquare, and/or Google Classroom to answer any questions and/or provide feedback between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm on the asynchronous remote learning day.
What does this mean for you as a teacher?
If an asynchronous remote learning day is needed, you will either be sending home a learning module (preK-grade 4) or posting assignments via Google Classroom or a combination of both (The only exceptions are Health/PE & FLEx (who will use Canvas) and Dual Enrollment classes (who will use the platform required by VPCC). On the remote day, you must be available (e.g., via email, ParentSquare, and/or Google Classroom feedback) throughout the remote day (from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm) to answer student questions. Please review the HCS Asynchronous Remote Learning Teacher Guidance for more specific information.
In addition, please review the following guidance documents based upon the grade level you teach:
