How do I get 'into' Ventures?

Analysis of standardized test scores, i-Ready results, classroom assessments, Renzulli Scales for Rating the Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students, and teacher recommendations are used as identifiers for the Ventures/Gifted and Talented program.

The selection criteria has been revised upon the recommendation of the Assistant Superintendent's Ventures advisory committee. Students in the top 5-10% of the class will be serviced as a pull-out class during WIN/RtI. All HMS students are continuously assessed and monitored to determine their appropriate placement to support and/or challenge them through our RtI services.

When is Ventures class held?

Ventures class at HMS are held during WIN (What I Need/RtI block).

Do I have to miss band and/or chorus to go to Ventures?

No, you do not have to miss band and/or chorus to attend Ventures class. Mr. Robins, Mr. Fisher, and I have worked our schedules so that you will not have to choose on whether to attend band, chorus, or Ventures on a given day.

5th & 6th Grade Ventures schedule is based on the Band and Chorus Schedule set by Mr. Robins and Mr. Fisher.
