Food Resource Center Internship
Job Description: We are looking for 5-6 Fall 2024 interns who are passionate about increasing food justice and access to basic needs in the Hamline community. Throughout the semester, our interns work on projects that they can cater to their major and/or interests as they relate to food justice. We ask that our interns complete at least 10 work hours per week. Of those weekly hours, we require a minimum of 5 hours to be worked on-site at the FRC. On-site tasks may include: helping put away food deliveries, stocking and organizing our pantry, checking out guests, maintaining the cleanliness of the space, providing basic needs resources, and more. If an applicant is interested in working on a specific project concerning their major/minor/interests for their LEAP internship credits, we can discuss this further during their interview. *Applicants do not need to be a Public Health, Social Justice, or related major to apply. We accept interns of any major!*
Internship Positions Available:
Social Media Intern:
Responsible for maintaining our Instagram account
This includes: creating Canva posts for our Instagram, posting delivery updates on our story, and more
Website Design Intern:
Responsible for maintaining the FRC website
This includes: keeping our website up-to-date by adding/removing information, creating new pages, making it look neat and organized, making it more accessible, etc.)
#HugHamline Intern:
Responsible for monitoring the Hug Hamline shelves
This includes: creating a Google form and keeping it updated, ordering supplies when needed, monitoring and stocking the shelves in the FRC, collaborate with #HugHamline & Alumni Outreach Intern working out of the Wesley Center Anderson 318 office
Other: Create your Internship
Students may choose their semester projects depending on their major/minor requirements or general interests
Examples of past projects have involved: developing our Pantry Saver data collection system, blogs, creating art pieces, food recovery work, and more
Pay: This is an unpaid position, though there is opportunity to receive the Pipers to Professionals internship stipend (approximately $2000) upon the completion of 120 hours required for the LEAP credit. Interns must register for an internship with Molly Isaacson in the Career Development Center to receive the stipend.
Qualification Requirements:
You must attend bi-weekly meetings with the site supervisor.
Must be reliable and have good communication & time-management skills.
Ability to perform physical labor (ie: standing, lifting) if working on delivery days (Wednesdays, Fridays).
Hours per week: To fulfill Hamline’s 120-hour internship requirement, you must work a minimum of 10 hours per week. This position can be a hybrid of 5 hours on-site and 5 hours work from home if preferred.
Supervisor: Food Resource Center Coordinator Sadie Berlin is the site supervisor.
Required/desired hiring materials: Applicant must submit their resume/cover letter, semester availability, and a 200-300 word statement of why the applicant would like to complete their internship at the FRC along with any current ideas of projects they would ideally like to work on over the semester.
