Parent Body: The HCA is one of the constituent District Associations (DAs) that make up the Northern Districts Cricket Association (NDCA). The NDCA is one of New Zealand's six major cricket associations, which fields the professional teams (Northern Brave and Northern Districts) that compete in the national Plunket Shield, Ford Trophy, and Super Smash competitions.
Focus: HCA focuses on providing cricket opportunities for all ages, genders, and abilities at the local community level, which includes clubs and schools.
Club Cricket: The HCA organises and manages the local club competitions, which include:
Senior Competitions: Covering various grades like Premier, Premier Reserves, Senior A, and Senior B C and D, often including two-day, one-day, and T20 formats.
Junior/Youth Competitions: Providing pathways and games for children and teenagers (Tamariki and Rangatahi).
Representative Teams: The HCA manages the Hamilton representative cricket teams, which competes in inter-district competitions within the Northern Districts region, such as:
Hawke Cup: A national challenge trophy for minor association cricket, which Hamilton has won multiple times.
Fergus Hickey Rosebowl: A two-day competition for the six constituent associations of Northern Districts.
Brian Dunning Cup: A 50-over competition for the Northern Districts associations.
