Hi!
I am very excited to be teaching second grade at Marcy for my 14th year already! Before second grade, I taught kindergarten for 6 years.
In addition to my masters, I have a Reading Specialist license that I received from Carroll University in 2017!
My philosophy is pretty simple..
To facilitate and support strategic learning by encouraging a growth mindset in order to promote self-reflection and independence.
Learning should be and can be fun and engaging! My goal is make learning fun in order to promote motivation to do well. It seems simple, but it is also tricky.
I also believe that we are in this together. Yes, that means you moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, aunties and uncles! Which means in order for your child to be successful, we need to work together.
I will do my best to keep you informed of your child's progress. I expect you to be involved in your child's learning at home. I really believe the research that says that when the teacher and parents collaborate together the child will have a firm foundation that supports their learning.
A little about my life...
I live with my husband in the city of Pewaukee. Our two sons are on their own. Joe lives in Phoenix, Arizona and is engaged to be married next year! Alex lives in Bayview with his husband, Sergio. We are very family orientated. We try to have a dinner/game night at least once per month. Board games are huge in my family!
When I am not enjoying time with my boys, my husband and I like to ride our motorcycles, go to movies, or work on projects around the house.
When I am on my own I like to be very active! I love to run. I am usually training for some kind of race. I like to scuba dive, bike, kayak, paddle board, yoga, snowshoe and hike. I enjoy gardening but sometimes that gets put to the side in order to do something like the above. I always find time to read however. I try to read all different types of genres but historical fiction is my favorite.
