FAQs
Are there tryouts for the team?
No! We want everyone to be a part of our program and do not require you to try out.
How do I sign up for the team?
Like all athletics at Hamilton, there is a required activity fee and athletic paperwork that needs to be turned in before the first day of practice. All of the needed forms can be found in the athletic office, or on the athletic website here.
When does the season start?
The 2022 WIAA Track and Field Season begins on March 7th and the State meet is held on June 4th.
When are practices?
Practices are weekdays after school beginning at 2:45. Different event groups will end at different times depending on the type of training being done that day, but all athletes will be done by 5:00 at the latest every day. We will not have practices on the weekend.
When are meets?
Track Meets are held during the week after school and some on Saturdays. You can find our complete schedule here.
What do I need for equipment?
Equipment needs are minimal to participate in track and field. You will need appropriate shoes (running shoes, sprint spikes, throwing shoes, etc.), and black shorts with no logo or stripe for meets. It is recommended that sprinters and jumpers get compression shorts for meets.
How long are meets and do I have to stay the whole time?
Track meets vary in length depending on the number of heats and events. Generally, Field events start first, then running events and will last about 4 hours total. We do require that athletes stay for the duration of the meet unless a travel release form is turned in by a parent who is present at the meet.
