As an effort to increase student attendance and focus on academic success, students will have the opportunity for exam exemptions.
A student who has a yearly average of 90 and 5 or fewer absences in a yearlong class may exempt their final exam. For a semester course (.5 Credit), a student who has a final average of 90 and 3 or fewer absences may exempt their final exam. Absences beginning September 2nd will count towards the permitted 5 days . Absences include excused and unexcused absences. No student can exempt an EOC, End of Pathway, AP exam, or an IB exam using this criteria. Student absences for school field trips and absences for school related competitions do not count against the 5 total absences. Exam exemptions will be determined by each class period.

The state of Georgia now requires a booster dose of MCV4 for students 16 years or older, entering or transferring into the 11th grade. This includes students who take courses remotely and who participate in our virtual program of choice. Students who have already received their first dose, on or after the age of 16, do not need another booster.
Meningococcal disease is a serious bacterial illness that affects the brain and the spinal cord. Meningitis can cause shock, coma and death within hours of the first symptoms. To help protect your children and others from meningitis, Georgia law requires students be vaccinated against this disease, unless the child has an exemption.
Parents and guardians are asked to provide proof of this vaccine on the Georgia Immunization Form 3231, which can be obtained from your child’s primary healthcare provider or the local health department. Health departments may charge a small fee for this service. If finances are an issue, please notify them upon signing in. The Georgia Immunization Form 3231 is required for your child to attend the school.
Please note: State law does allow a 30-day calendar waiver period, which begins with the date the child enters the 11th grade to complete these requirements.
Your school needs receipt of proof of an MCV4 immunization for your child, on a current Georgia Immunization Form 3231, by September 5, 2025____ to avoid withdrawing your child from school.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. If you have questions or concerns, please call the school nurse, your primary care provider, or the health department.
In approximately 2 weeks, your student will take the following screener. At the start of the school year, all parents were asked to complete the Student Services Acknowledgement form within the Parent Portal. If you completed all back-to-school forms, then you have already done so.
Please note, if you have not already completed the Student Services Acknowledgement form within the Parent Portal, it is imperative that you do so now. Directions for setting up your Parent Portal can be found here.
If it is your desire that your student NOT participate in the upcoming screener, it is your responsibility to communicate with your child’s School Counselor directly.
