Mrs. Henman’s US History classes dove into a civics study this week after EOCs. Pictured are Bailey , Elena, Gunner , and Edgar learning to properly fold the American flag. It’s not as easy as it looks! Next week, they will begin research into the primary candidates and hold a mock election.
Reminder: When counting student absences for our Exam Exemption policy, we begin with absences starting on September 2nd and ending on May 12th.
Here is the Board statement:
As an effort to increase student attendance and focus on academic success, students will have the opportunity for exam exemptions.
A student who has a yearly average of 90 and 5 or fewer absences in a yearlong class may exempt their final exam. For a semester course (.5 Credit), a student who has a final average of 90 and 3 or fewer absences may exempt their final exam. Absences beginning September 2nd will count towards the permitted 5 days . Absences include excused and unexcused absences. No student can exempt an EOC, End of Pathway, AP exam, or an IB exam using this criteria. Student absences for school field trips and absences for school related competitions do not count against the 5 total absences. Exam exemptions will be determined by each class period.
