LCCA Counselor Corner

I am so very excited to be working with YOU, wonderful student... or YOU, amazing parent of a future Career Ready child! I will be serving as the school counselor during your enrollment period at Lanier College & Career Academy. Some things that I do/handle on a daily basis are: individual + group counseling, outside agency referrals, crisis intervention, and academic + career counseling. While I am not a full-time, one-on-one therapist, I do have a background in the mental health field and can refer you to great counseling resources in the community if needed. I am now in my seventh year as a school counselor and adore each and every student that I have the pleasure of meeting! 

Before beginning my career in school counseling I worked as a mental health counselor at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center; I provided counseling to young people who were incarcerated. I quickly realized that I LOVE helping and pouring into adolescents, but that I would rather be a proactive care provider in the school setting, aiming to help them learn ways to be successful in life prior to ending up in situations that lead to long term incarceration. 

I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from Georgia State University, then went on to earn a master's degree in clinical counseling from Brenau University. In December 2023 I became a Licensed Professional Counselor, and am and active participant in the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia. I serve students in Hall County schools as a Sources of Strength school lead. I hope to continue to broaden my specialties to better serve the students of LCCA!

It is so wonderful to meet you! I will be working with you and your family to get you Career Ready, as you work towards becoming the next generation of world changers.  I will be the school counselor on campus Monday-Wednesday at Lanier College & Career Academy. I work with Laren Chandler to provide individual + group counseling, outside agency referrals, crisis intervention, and academic + career counseling. 

This is my first year as a school counselor, for which I am so grateful. Prior to school counseling, I worked as a mental health therapist, and continue to do so on the days that I am not working at LCCA. I have spent most of my time working with youth, ages 5-18, and preparing them to take on the world as their best selves. My passion is working with adolescents, since it is such an amazing (and sometimes overwhelming) time in your life. 

I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Georgia and my master's degree in clinical counseling psychology from Brenau University. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor, with a special interest in creative arts. I hope to grow my skill set and experience more by working with you all, and I can't wait to learn all the wonderful things you have to teach me!
