News from the Front Office

It has been a busy month at CMCSI! Thank you to all of our parents, teachers, and students for making our first full month of school a wonderful one. Routines have been established and students have been learning new curriculum in addition to building character through our Character Education Program and our Warrior Way. It's been awesome getting to see your children hard at work both in-person and virtually. We are so grateful that you share your students with us at CMCSI!

October is another busy month and we're looking forward to celebrating Red Ribbon Week at the end of the month in addition to our first "drive-thru" Spirit Night on October 20th at the new McDonald's located at the corner of Hog Mountain Road & Spout Springs Road. Be sure and remember that students will be out of school for Fall Break on Monday, October 12th and again on October 26th and November 3rd for Teacher Work Days.

In these days of Covid-19, we are working to create memorable experiences at CMCSI for our students while maintaining our new procedures and safety guidelines. We are in the midst of our high school spirit days; our new Warrior Wednesdays are exciting for our students; our Book Fair is October 19-30 (it will be online!); Parent Conference Week (via Zoom) will be this fall; and our PTO Board is preparing for our annual Warrior Walk-a-thon to be held November 13th. Although this year's Warrior Walk will be different without our parent volunteers on campus, we are excited about our virtual and in-person students participating in this fun event. More details will be coming soon from PTO!

We hope everyone has a wonderful October. It seems that fall weather is here...be sure to enjoy the nice cooler temperatures while making memories with your family. Feel free to contact us if you ever need anything.

~ Dr. Betsy Ainsworth, Principal & Mrs. Dana Walker, Assistant Principal

Parent Information

  • For our virtual families, when we have special event days (Spirit Days, Red Ribbon Week, Warrior Wednesdays, etc.), please send pictures of your Warriors at home to your teacher or CMCSI@hallco.org We want to include our virtual students on Twitter posts and in our Yearbook for these special days!

  • Please remember that students will have their temperatures checked in the car rider line this morning. Please be sure to lower the heat, remove jackets, etc. so that our thermometers get accurate readings. If the heat is on high inside vehicles, it could make readings too high, resulting in students not being allowed to attend school. Thank you for your help with this!

  • If you need to purchase CMCSI Spirit Wear, Cotton Eyed Joe's has reopened their store for online sales. Use this link to order. We'd love to see our Warriors participate in Warrior Wednesday each week by showing their Warrior Spirit.

  • Parent Conferences will be November 9-13 via Zoom or phone. Teachers will contact parents to set up a conference appointment to discuss your child's progress so far this year. Parent Conference Week is a time we set aside each fall and spring for conversations and collaboration with our families to further support our students at CMCSI. More information will be coming from teachers soon!

  • We are excited that our playground equipment was opened up again at CMCSI within the last few weeks. One class per grade level per day uses the equipment, and we disinfect the equipment with an electrostatic sprayer after each class.

Red Ribbon Week at CMCSI

We are so excited to celebrate Red Ribbon Week October 27th-October 30th. We look forward to teaching our students what it means to be Drug Free and having them participate in this exciting Spirit Week.

WARRIOR WALK-A-THON

Our annual PTO Warrior Walk will be November 13th. This is our main fundraiser for our school but also a fun time for our students. Unfortunately, due to restrictions as a result of COVID-19, parents and volunteers will not be able to attend this year's Warrior Walk. Teachers and Staff will be assisting with the Warrior Walk-a-thon. Each class will have an assigned time to walk to ensure social distancing is still a priority in addition to keeping classes separated. More information will be coming soon as the date to begin fundraising draws near. Although, the Warrior Walk will look much different than it has in the past, we are looking forward to this memorable event, and we are very grateful to our PTO Board volunteers who are organizing this event for our school from afar.

Information from the School Nurse

  • As previously mentioned, if your child exhibits any symptoms that are considered symptoms of COVID-19, students will need to remain out of school for 10 days OR until your child can get a negative COVID-19 test or visit the doctor (to get a note diagnosing illness and recommending a return to school date). Please be sure and notify your child's teacher and Nurse Shaunda by email or phone call if your child becomes ill. Additional information will be given if applicable.

  • If a student or family member tests positive for COVID-19, contact the school nurse at shaunda.harper@hallco.org immediately to discuss next steps to ensure the safety of all students and to support your child’s learning.

  • Please review these protocols for when your student is sick from Hall County Schools in English or Spanish.

  • Please review these safety guidelines from Hall County Schools in English or Spanish.

Character Education Word & Community Topic

  • Our CMCSI Character Education Word of the month is Integrity. Students are encouraged to show integrity by being truthful in how they act and what they say. Please see more resources for parents to use to discuss Integrity here.

  • Perspective Taking is this month's Community Topic at CMCSI. Students are learning what perspective means and how to understand points of view. We are learning about community influencers such as Garrett Morgan and Maggie Lena Walker.

Substitute Teachers Needed at CMCSI

Are you interested in becoming a substitute teacher? Did you know that the application to become a substitute teacher in Hall County is located online? The application is linked here. Also, you can specify which school you prefer to work at (CMCSI, of course!) and also which days you're available to work. Substitute teachers can choose which assignments and age level classrooms they will work with. If you're interesting in becoming a substitute, please fill out an application today. We love having our parents & grandparents as substitute teachers at CMCSI!

How can our Warrior Families support CMCSI?

        • November 5 @ Great American Cookie/ Marble Slab Creamery in Braselton

        • February 2 @ Great American Cookie/ Marble Slab Creamery in Braselton

        • March 4 @ McDonald's in Oakwood

Bottled Water for Classrooms

  • Since our water fountains cannot be used this year, we provide bottled water for students who forget their water bottles. If you would like to donate a case of water (regular sized OR small bottles are great too!) to your child's classroom or the front office, we would appreciate it!

Wipes & Hand Sanitizer

  • Please continue to send hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes (like Clorox wipes) for our classrooms, as it is hard to find items "in bulk" right now. Please consider donating to your child's classroom, our Media Center, gym, Computer Lab, etc. We appreciate your help!

Cafeteria Information

  • Due to additional funding from USDA, Hall County School District will provide meals at no cost to all children 18 years and under until December 31, or until USDA funding runs out, whichever occurs first. Families of Hall County students are strongly encouraged to continue to complete free/reduced meal applications in order to receive benefits when funding for meals at no cost ends. These applications can be found online on our website: https://foodservices.hallco.org/web/free-reduced-applications/

  • Children 18 years and under who are enrolled in a Hall County school can receive their meals at no cost during meal time on-campus, or through weekly virtual learner meal ordering on My Payments Plus. Directions for ordering virtual learner meals through MPP can be found on our website: foodservices.hallco.org. Please note that MPP is open for ordering Friday at 8AM through Monday at 8AM each week.

Transportation Reminders

  • If your child is a morning bus rider, please be sure and have a light on at your home or have a flashlight at the bus stop so the bus driver knows to stop. We want to make it as easy as possible for our bus drivers to see students.

  • Be sure that your heat is turned down or off prior to your child having his or her temperature checked. It may also be necessary for your child to remove his or jacket as well. We want our temperature checks to as accurate as possible and both the heat and extra layers of clothing can result in an elevated temperature.

  • For morning drop-off, after your child has his/her temperature taken, please have your student gather belongings, mask, water bottle, etc. so he/she is prepared to exit the car quickly with all belongings prepared when your car arrives at the sidewalk for drop-off.

  • ID will be checked and required without a Car Rider tag. This delays loading for ALL students, and you may be asked to pull into the parking lot (after sitting through the line).
