Grades. You are a student athlete and you are expected to pass all of your classes. To be academically eligible you have to pass 5 out of 6 classes with a 70 or above.
2. Do Right. Athletes are expected to act with character and integrity inside the classroom and outside the classroom. There will be fitness consequences for athletes that have trouble with maintaining this standard. If poor behavior continues to be a problem then game suspension or dismissal from the team can be a result.
3. Be on time. On time is late and early is on time. This is War Eagle Time and it is an expectation. Being late will result in a fitness consequence. When you are late to work as an adult there are consequences. Academics and Sports are your job, be on time (early).
4. Attendance. Practice is mandatory and missing needs to be a last resort. If you do have to miss, it needs to be communicated through the absence form (exception would be last second emergencies but still should be communicated). If you miss without communicating why, that will be considered an unexcused absence. Absences of any kind can result in physical consequences, game suspension or possibly dismissal from the team.
5. Study film. There is a difference in watching film and studying film. Learning how to study film and learning from the mistakes, successes, and tendencies of others and yourself is one of the best ways to improve your game.
6. Work while you wait. Understand that playing time is not guaranteed in middle school and at every level after this. The athletes that know what to do, compete everyday in practice, and earn their spot will play. Playing time is earned everyday and never given. If you are not playing as much as you like then learn the valuable lesson of working while you wait for your opportunity. When it comes, you're ready. Life is not given to you. You have work hard and often times wait for your opportunity. Football is no different.
