I was born Nash County. My father was a sharecropper. He died when I was 11 years old, so I lived with my mother and 8 siblings.
I joined First Baptist church when I was 12 years old and continue to worship and fellowship there each Sunday attending Sunday School ( where I am the coordinator) and Worship Services ( where I am the President of and sing in the FBC Choir.
We all lived in Enfield and was educated in Halifax County Schools.
I was and still is very fond of sports( Basketball, volleyball and Softball).
While in high school I played on the Girl's basketball Team. I played guard. I was very good in this sport. I also played with the boys at the park and in my back yard. I was chosen to be all conference and all tournament for my 10th, 11th and 12th Grade in High school.
I graduated from Enfield High School with honors.
I attended and graduated from Edgecombe Community college with an Applied Science Degree in Business Administration.
I began my teaching career as a Teachers Assistant and went to school at night to attain my Teaching Degree.
I married Mr. Floyd Hunter, who was my high school sweetheart. We have two sons Floyd and LeShawn.
I attended NC Wesleyan College and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Math. I am also certified to teach Science.
I also attended East Carolina for several years at night as I taught school during the day time. As well as teaching I also coached all the female sports( Volleyball, Basketball and Softball), for more than 10 years. We won many, many trophies in all sports, especially Volleyball and Basketball.
I graduated from East Carolina with a Masters of Arts in Education.
I was inducted in to the Halifax County Hall of Fame.
I have been teaching Middle School Math /Science Students for Thirty plus years.
