Subject: Grading Scale for Physical Education
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
In order to ensure clarity and fairness in assessment, please review the following grading scale for our Physical Education (PE) class. Student progress will be measured on participation, effort, skill development, and overall performance.
Grading Scale:
A (90–100%) – Consistently demonstrates outstanding effort, active participation, strong skill development, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
B (80–89%) – Frequently participates, shows good effort, developing skills, and contributes positively in class.
C (70–79%) – Participates regularly but demonstrates average effort and developing skills; some improvement needed.
D (60–69%) – Limited participation, minimal effort, and/or inconsistent skill application; needs improvement.
F (59% and below) – Rare participation, little to no effort, lack of skill development, and/or frequent non-compliance with class expectations.
Grading Categories:
Participation & Effort – 40%
Skill Development – 30%
Knowledge/Assessments – 20%
Teamwork & Sportsmanship – 10%

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the new school year! We are excited to have your child in our Middle School Physical Education (PE) program. Our goal is to create a positive, safe, and engaging environment where all students can develop the knowledge, skills, and habits to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.
Below is an overview of what you and your child can expect this year in PE:
Program Goals
Encourage lifelong physical activity and healthy habits
Develop teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership skills
Improve physical fitness, coordination, and motor skills
Build confidence and a positive self-image through movement and skill development
Units & Activities
Students will participate in a variety of activities throughout the year, which may include:
Team Sports (e.g., basketball, soccer, volleyball, ultimate frisbee)
Individual & Lifetime Activities (e.g., tennis, badminton, yoga, fitness training)
Fitness & Conditioning (cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility)
Cooperative & Team-Building Games
Expectations for Students
Preparedness: Students should wear appropriate athletic clothing and non-marking athletic shoes for safety and ease of movement.
Participation: Active and positive participation is expected in every class. Effort counts!
Respect & Sportsmanship: Treat classmates, teachers, and equipment with respect.
Safety First: Follow all safety instructions and use equipment properly.

Fitness Assessments and Written Reflections (when applicable)
Medical Notes
If your child is unable to participate due to injury or illness, please provide a written note from a parent or physician indicating the limitation and expected duration.
