Summer Enrichment Activities

📚Reading

• Read for at least 20 minutes each day.

• Identify the theme or message of a story.

• Compare characters, settings, or events.

• Learn and use new vocabulary words from your reading.

➗ Mathematics

• Practice multi-digit multiplication and division.

• Compare and represent fractions using models.

• Solve real-world multi-step word problems.

• Measure and calculate the area and perimeter of rectangles.

🔬 Science

• Observe and record the phases of the Moon.

• Keep a weather journal for one week.

• Explore changes in matter (solids, liquids, and gases).

• Investigate how plants and animals survive in different habitats.

• Identify examples of energy, light, heat, and motion in everyday life.

📝 Writing

• Keep a summer journal.

• Write a narrative about a real or imaginary adventure.

• Write an opinion piece and support it with reasons.

• Research a topic of interest and write a short report.

 🏘️Social Studies

• Research a historic place in North Carolina.

• Talk with a family member about a family tradition.

• Explore maps of North Carolina and the United States.

• Learn about important people in North Carolina history.

 🚴Physical Activity

• Play outdoors for at least 30 minutes each day.

• Ride a bike, walk, or swim.

• Practice a sport or recreational activity.

• Participate in family games that encourage movement.
