Welcome to K-5 Music!
Dear families and scholars,
I’m excited to make joyful music with you this 2025-2026 schoo year! Our work is aligned to the NC DPI Music Essential Standards, focusing on three big goals:
Musical Literacy (ML): we will sing, read, write, and play rhythms/melodies on classroom instruments.
Musical Response (MR): we will listen, analyze, and discuss music using accurate music vocabulary.
Contextual Relevancy (CR): we will connect music to culture, history, and STEM—exploring patterns, sound waves, and creative problem-solving.
What to expect: lots of singing and movement, Dalcroze/Orff/Kodaly/Ukulele/percussion experiences, beginner composing and beat-making with tech, and chances to perform and reflect. Assessment is brief and performance-based, celebrating growth, effort, and teamwork.
