Breakout Forum

Description

The Breakout Forum will consist of small group discussions focused around different topics of interest for HALI organizations. They will be an opportunity for brainstorming ideas, creating communities, and crowdsourcing solutions to tackle challenges that we are all facing in the new reality of 2020. There will be no "experts" in these discussions, just an opportunity to gather with colleagues and take advantage of the extraordinary depth of knowledge within HALI to create solutions to the hurdles in front of us.

• Building Relationships with Universities (bridging HALI to universities beyond the US) x2

• English language instruction - building out a curriculum to supplement English language learning for non-native speakers

• Online Learning / Counseling - how to retain community and forming relationships with students during disruption in in-person activities x2

• Supporting mental health of students applying during COVID and during university

• Supporting students return to their home country - career and cultural transition (i.e. post-university reorientation)

• Testing in a COVID world - what will be useful for admissions 2020-21 (what ways can we further strengthen applicants without a testing profile?)
