The clarinet is a member of the woodwind family. To play the clarinet you use a single reed and blow your air through the reed and mouthpiece to create a sound.

The saxophone is a woodwind instrument. Like the clarinet, the saxophone uses a single reed and a mouthpiece to make a sound. The saxophone is popular in both concert band and jazz band!

The trumpet is the highest pitched brass instrument in the band. Trumpet players make a sound by buzzing their lips!

The trombone is a member of the brass family. Like the trumpet, trombone players make a sound by buzzing their lips. The trombone is lower than the trumpet and uses a slide to change notes.

The baritone, also known as a euphonium, is another low brass instrument. It is in the same range as the trombone, but uses valves like the trumpet.

Students begin learning percussion with the bell kit. The bell kit, or xylophone, is a pitched keyboard instrument. Students use mallets to play different notes. Other keyboard percussion instruments include marimba and vibraphone

Students will graduate from the bell kit to the snare drum. Students use drum sticks to play rhythms and rolls on the snare drum.
