pH level of the soil of 3 different plant species

Analysis of Results:

The pH of a soil is a measurement of both the acidity and alkalinity of a soil on a scale from 1-14 with measurements above 7 being alkaline and measurements below 7 being acidic and 7 being neutral. The pH level of soil that is most suitable for pant life is between 5.5 and 7.0, however the pH of soil is prone to change based on environmental conditions specifically acid rain. Due to the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the air as part of the carbon cycle, however nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) which both come from cars when certain types of fuel are used in motor vehicles, can increase the acidity of rain. Acid pollutants can enter soil through rain altering the pH of the soil, most plants are able to adapt to grow in pH levels that slightly fall out of the range of 5.5-7.0 however acid rain can drastically alter the level of soil. However the results from our investigation indicate that the soil surrounding the plants we investigated is at a healthy level for sustainable plant life.
