Science Homework

Homework Expectations

Almost all of your homework in Science 7 will be to pre-read lessons in your workbooks, take notes on all vocabulary and main ideas, and answering the questions that go along with the reading. Students will not be expected to do all of this right away. Each student has their own strengths when it comes to learning therefore all students are not expected to learn the same way, but all students will be expected to pre-read the assigned lesson. This does not mean that students need to teach themselves the concepts in the reading.

Here are some guidelines for showing proof that an assigned lesson has been completed;

Term 1: Students will read and highlight the main ideas and vocabulary definitions. When questions are assigned students should answer all the questions through out the assignment and circle any questions they can not answer.

Term 2: Students will transition from highlighting to taking written notes on main ideas and vocabulary definitions in a note taking format of their choice. When questions are assigned students should answer all the questions through out the assignment and circle any questions they could not answer.

Term 3: Students will continue to take written notes on main ideas and definitions in a note taking format of their choice as well as answer the questions. Students that do not know the answer to a question can write a question about what they do not understand to receive full credit.

Term 4: Students will start to take open note homework completion quizzes.
