About Me

ALL ABOUT MRS. MURPHY

This is my 12th year teaching and my ninth year teaching Kindergarten at Tatem! I am not sure where the time has gone, but I am happy to be a Tatem Tiger everyday.

Upon graduation from Cherry Hill High School East, I continued my education at Saint Joseph’s University earning my Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education. As an undergraduate, I also played on the women’s lacrosse team for three years until student teaching took precedence. In addition, I have received my Master of Science in Education with a Reading Specialist Certification at Saint Joseph’s University. While earning my masters degree, I was selected as one of the Graduate Assistants in the Education Department where I worked closely with several professors and participated in the research of literacy and educational instruction best practices. I possess an Elementary Education (K-5) and Teacher of Students with Disabilities teaching certificates in the state of New Jersey. Additionally, I am certified as a Reading Specialist (K-12) in New Jersey.

I live close by In Cherry Hill with my husband, Colin, my son, Keegan, and daughter, Macey. We love to take trips to Ocean City, go out to restaurants, and root on our Philly sports teams.

FUN FACTS ABOUT MRS. MURPHY

1. I have a twin sister, Kristen. I am seven minutes older than her and we are the best of friends! I hope one day that you will be able to meet her.

2. I am a huge Philadelphia sports fan. I especially love the Eagles and I'm rooting for another Super Bowl this year (even without Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox).

3. I have a passion for cooking and baking. I have a really big sweet tooth!

4. I love listening to music. Lately, I've enjoyed listening to a lot of country music. Get ready to sing songs with me!

5. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. When I would play with my friends, I always wanted to be the teacher.

6. Reading is one of my favorite subjects to teach. I can't wait to read with all of you this year!

7. I love spending time on the beach down at the Jersey Shore with my family. You can find me reading, going for walks, playing bocce and corn hole, or just relaxing!

8. I am a morning person! This is why I love teaching AM Kindergarten!

10. I am saving the best for last :-) I love my job as a mom! I have a son, Keegan and daughter, Macey. They are the best things to ever happen to me.
