School Counseling Services

Elementary School Counseling services include the following:

  • Individual counseling

  • Small group counseling

  • Classroom Guidance

  • Support student social-emotional learning:

    • self-awareness

    • self-management

    • social awareness

    • responsible decision-making

    • relationship skills

  • Promote a positive, nurturing, and inclusive school climate

  • Participate in I&RS, 504, and IEP meetings

  • Serve as a resource for teachers regarding student social-emotional learning

  • Conference with parents and teachers to support student school success

  • Support students in crisis

  • When requested, provide agency referrals for therapeutic services for students and families

Elementary students often visit the counselor for help with these common school challenges:

  • Resolving conflicts

  • Decision-making and goal setting

  • Developing healthy friendships

  • Managing emotions

  • Adjusting to change

We are here to support the emotional health and well being of all students. The services of a School Counselor are short term, and are not intended to replace the long term therapeutic support of mental health professionals outside of the school system. We are happy to provide to families, by request, a list of community agencies in the area which provide these services.
