Master data sources

For now, we are focusing on housing data for tenants and leaseholders within Hackney. This is predominantly stored on Universal Housing (UH) in a variety of databases.

There is additional geo-spatial information in the Local Land Property Gazetteer (LLPG) that Hackney have and manage that we would also like to use.

We have customer, and some property, information in two main sources, Dynamics 365 CRM and OneAccount.

Currently, none of these sources is the 'Master'. To get a clear picture, you have to go to at least one, but more often 2+ of these sources to get the complete picture.

In a perfect world, we would have master data sources for each type of information related to housing. This could be in their own database or as well defined tables in a larger database but, whatever the structure might be, the data would be the source of truth and we wouldn't have to try and reconcile conflicting data from multiple sources.

Mastering data is a job that is too big for the API Factory project but we want to try and help demonstrate what could be done. So, for the time being, the API Factory project is collaborating with the Data and Insight team in order to see how much progress we can make on mastering addresses data from the LLPG.

We're at the very start of this journey so don't have much more to add for now but we will in future. We'll update this site as soon as we have news!
