HIB occurs and verbal report is made directly to the building Principal/designee on the same day they are aware an incident has occurred.
Principal/designee initiates the investigation and immediately assigns incident to Anti Bullying Specialist (ABS) and contacts parents informing them their child is involved in an investigation.
Within 2 days a written report is made to the building principal/designee regarding incident by person witnessing event or directly involved.
Anti-Bullying Specialist (ABS) begins investigation and has 10 days to complete it, unless new evidence causes an extension in the process.
Within 2 days of completion, a written report must be sent to Superintendent for review.
At the next scheduled board meeting the superintendent will review cases for each building. (no names or specific information is shared for reasons of confidentiality unless a specific issue is in question. In these cases specifics are discussed during closed session).
Within 5 days of the board meeting, parents with children involved in the investigation are notified in writing of the Board of Education review.
Parents have 30 days following the board meeting to request an appeal. (appeal information will be located in the letter parents receive from the board of education)
At the next Board Meeting, if no appeal has been requested, the Board of Education will finalize the investigations and their outcomes.
Within 5 days of the board meeting, parents with children involved in the investigation are notified in writing of the Boards of Educations finalized approval of HIB investigation outcomes.
