Interviewer: What was your role before becoming a math teacher?
Mrs. Moradi: I was a teacher's assistant and a full-time second-grade substitute teacher.
Interviewer: How have you been enjoying your new role? What are the some aspects you enjoy, and some aspects you may find more challenging?
Mrs. Moradi: The first step of learning is for students to feel comfortable with their teacher, and it took time for this to happen. I want to make sure my students know that I am here to support them in math class, any way possible, and accommodate each child's individual learning needs. I was excited to rejoin the Hebrew Academy team. I have a great relationship with my colleagues, providing an instant feeling of camaraderie and support among the Middle School community. I also already know most of my students, as I have had the privilege of being their teacher since they were in elementary school.
Interviewer: How does it feel to have your children attending the school as students?
Mrs. Moradi: There are both favorable aspects and challenges. I love that I have an opportunity that most parents don’t, to personally watch my children thrive in their school environment. I have the chance to see them at recess, lunch, and on the playground. I get to be in school with my children throughout the day, and am grateful for that. A challenge I've experienced is showing equal favor towards all of my students, regardless of my connection with them outside of class. One main reason that my children attend the Hebrew Academy because of the strong Judaic education. You can get general studies at many schools but our learning values and Judaic studies is just as important and given equal attention here at the Hebrew Academy.
Interviewer: How does it feel to be back?
Mrs. Moradi: It feels great! I have always wanted to have my own classroom, and it feels very good to be back.
Interviewer: What inspired you to come back?
Mrs. Moradi: I adore my students and have missed them very much. I heard that there was an opening for a math teacher and since the Hebrew Academy community are like my family, I jumped at the opportunity. As a math teacher, I embraced the chance to work with my family since I have so much to give, and love helping others. I am here to help our students any way I can.
Interviewer: I love your passion for teaching! What do you hope to achieve?
Mrs. Moradi: I want to help students understand math and I want them to love it. I want my students to have a good relationship with math. It is important for me to help them understand, have fun, and feel comfortable while they learn.
Interviewer: Is there anything else you would like to add?
Mrs. Moradi: I'd like to highlight how I've noticed immense positive energy among the teachers, students, and within the Hebrew Academy community. Moreover, a lot of learning is taking place, and it's great to see!
