Degree Works Glossary
@
This is the wildcard character. It can be used to denote any subject of class number. You may see this in free electives as @ @, or in the case any business class as BUSI @
Academic Audit
This is the audit that shows the students current progress.
Attribute
Courses may have an underlying attribute that meets general education requirements. Sometimes you will see that the course requirements are anything with a certain attribute.
A
A class that meets the Humanities and Arts requirement.
B
A class that meets the Social and Behavioral Sciences requirement.
C
A class that meets the Science and Math requirement.
W
A class that meets the Wellness requirement.
FYS
A class that meets the First Year Seminar requirement
Block
Each section that contains information or classes is called a block. The blocks are filled with information that is programmed into Degree Works. Below is some more information on commonly seen blocks.
Core Knowledge
This block contains the English and Communication requirements for the program
General Education
This block contains the General Education requirements for the program
Major in
This block contains the major requirements for the program
CIP
CIP is short for currently in progress. This shows on courses currently in session, as well as those registered for in subsequent semesters. You can see the semester the class is registered for next to the credit amount in parenthesis.
Courses Not Applied to Degree
These are courses that are not counted to the degree because they are developmental, or do not meet any degree requirements
Cumulative GPA
This is the GPA of the student taking into account all courses they have taken.
Not Counted
These are courses that have been failed, re-taken or withdrawn from.
Program GPA
This is the GPA of the student only taking into account courses in their program of study.
What If Audit
This audit can be ran to see how a students current classes may fit into other programs of study.
