HACC Foundation Donors provided funding for updated computer hardware, making it possible for students to engage in project-based learning initiatives with some of the latest modernizations in the information technology field. The hands-on experience allowed students to assemble a system unit with the hardware components described in the current textbook editions. By working with the hardware in real-life situations, students can better connect theory with practice.
The project-based learning approach ignited collaborations between HACC peers and promoted a sense of community and belonging for students. Recently, students enrolled in a computer hardware course were able to present a lesson on computer memory to Dr. John J. "Ski" Sygielski, HACC’s president and CEO, and guide him through the memory installation on two different motherboards.
The HACC Foundation continues to support HACC in its mission to keep students at the core. Creating meaningful experiences and opportunities, like these, will keep students engaged and have a positive outlook on their progress and success after HACC.
