In this activity by the Apple Teacher program, students are encouraged to better articulate and share their personalities, cultures, and background with the class through a Keynote template and shapes, objects, pictures, and videos. This activity can be used in place of the What Does it Mean to Be Me?, or as a ice-breaker first week of class activity. This activity allows students to create their own self-portrait, giving them an opportunity to define how they want their classmates to see and understand them, which allows for self-expression and identification that may not be immediately evident to their classmates. The template, supplied by Apple Teacher, requires an iPhone or iPad and Keynote, and allows students to construct their identity using a silhoutte of their choice and shapes, objects, images, and video.
The Activity
Download the All About Me Keynote file and choose a silhoutte to work from. Add shapes, from the exhaustive shape library in Keynote, in and around the silhoutte that will help your classmates better understand who you are and accurately represent you.
