HACC Partners with Thomas Jefferson University to Expand Academic Offerings to Its Community
Thomas Jefferson University and HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, announced an exciting new partnership that will provide reduced tuition, collaborative initiatives and a wide range of degree and certificate opportunities for HACC employees and their immediate family members, members of the HACC Board of Trustees and their immediate family members and HACC alumni.

Dr. Ski Receives Lifetime Leadership Award from Higher Education Innovation
HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College is proud to announce that John J. “Ski” Sygielski, MBA, Ed.D., HACC’s president and CEO, received the 2025 Lifetime Leadership Award from Higher Education Innovation (HEI).

HACC Foundation donors provided funding to install automatic sliding doors at HACC’s Gettysburg and York campuses and upgrade the ADA push button hardware at the Lancaster Campus.
The installations support HACC students, employees and the community by:
Eliminating physical barriers that prevent access or movement for people with disabilities
Maintaining compliance with ADA codes
Upholding HACC’s commitment to sustainability, inclusion and belonging
The enhancements have created accessible spaces, while transforming HACC’s architectural and structural appearance. HACC remains committed to providing exceptional service, safety and accessibility to the HACC community.
HACC Foundation donors provided funding for eight Lancaster County residents to enroll in the Nurse Aide Training Program, supporting their future career aspirations. The program makes it possible for program graduates to serve the Lancaster community’s skilled nursing facilities.
Funding recipients expressed their gratitude. One student described the impact of the opportunity, stating:
Thank you so much for the assistance and support of the nurse aide training class in Lancaster. Your support to the community means so much to me and my family. Your support made it possible to take this class and prepare for the state exam. I would like to work as a nurse aide for a while so I have experience to move into a nursing role in the future. Thank you so much for all of your support and dedication. - A HACC Student
Students concluded the Nurse Aide Training Program with options to continue their educational journey in HACC’s Practical Nursing or Registered Nursing programs. HACC celebrates lifelong learning and the potential of each student to achieve their dreams.
HACC Foundation donors provided funding to cover a portion of the 2024-25 annual debt service payment for the Bruce E. Cooper Student Center renovation, which was completed in August 2017. The funding has enabled HACC to exercise budget sustainability during the 2024-25 fiscal year, while continuing to support the College’s ongoing operating needs.
The renovations have enhanced the student experience by offering the following services and resources:
Admissions
Advising and counseling services
Dining services
Financial aid services
Global education opportunities
Military and veteran support
Professional development and student engagement opportunities
Student Access Services
Technology access
The College is committed to fiscal responsibility and dedicated resource management. Ensuring HACC’s long-term financial stability is critical to student success and institutional advancement.
