Hello, HACC Hawks!
Welcome to the student newsletter. HACC is dedicated to providing news that matters most to you in an easy-to-read format. We will continue to share relevant information and keep you “in the know” as we serve and support you.
This newsletter is shared with all current HACC students.
Thank you!
If there is a weather announcement regarding campus closures, it will only affect employees and students approved to be on campus. All other remote work, remote instruction and virtual learning courses will continue as scheduled.
We will communicate directly to students and employees approved to be on a HACC campus. Therefore, we will not be distributing a collegewide e2Campus message. In addition, we will not notify the local media.
Instead, we will:
Update the hacc.edu website
Send an email to employees who are approved to be on campus
Send an email to students who are approved to be on campus
Post an announcement to the collegewide Facebook and Twitter accounts
Please see the “Weather Announcement Process During COVID-19” tab on hacc.edu/Weather for more information. Also, please remember to continue wearing your mask, washing your hands and staying safe and healthy. You are important!
On Oct. 8, 2020, HACC students; Wendy Brubaker, assistant director of student involvement; and Dr. Ski, HACC’s president and CEO, volunteered at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of the emergency food distribution network and we need your help now, more than ever, to be able to support our neighbors in need,” explained Chris Gray, volunteer and front warehouse manager at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.
For four hours, students and staff packed 650 emergency food boxes for those in need at the Farm Show Complex, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s temporary emergency food packing center. These boxes will be shipped to distribution centers throughout HACC’s service region.
If you are interested in the next HACC Gives Back event, please contact Wendy Brubaker at wabrubak@hacc.edu.
Greetings, HACC students! Do you know HACC’s core values? At HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, we value inclusion and diversity and model our core values of excellence, innovation, inclusivity and integrity.
It is our job to protect you and provide a safe and equitable work and school environment where learning is paramount. An essential piece of this work includes providing comprehensive information and resources about Title IX legislation.
It is of the utmost importance that all students attend a New Student Orientation or view our New Student Orientation Fast Track video to stay in compliance with essential information for YOUR success! Failure to view this video containing essential Title IX information could result in you being unable to register for spring 2021 classes. If you have already viewed this video, attended an orientation session or have any questions, please contact us at orientation@hacc.edu.
The fall 2020 new student orientation sessions have ended, and we are proud to have connected with so many amazing students! At our orientations, we covered topics such as:
· How to connect with our brand-new Learning Commons
· Access to HACC’s EAP and mental-health services
· WHY students are choosing HACC for all of their educational needs
· ...and many more!
Don’t forget that as a HACC student, you have access to Orientation Homebase, a comprehensive document that will help you confidently access key HACC services and personnel. You can access this document at any time by logging in to your myHACC account and selecting “New Student Orientation Homebase” under the Student Success → New Student Orientation tabs.
We are #HACCproud that you chose HACC to advance your education and wish you the best of luck in your first semester and beyond!
