From virtual lounges to in-person celebrations, the Admissions Department has made major strides in enhancing how we engage with future students and the HACC community. Over the 2024-25 academic year, our team expanded its reach, strengthened partnerships and introduced new events that reflect our commitment to accessibility, inclusion and student success.
Here are some of the top highlights:
The HACC Admissions Lounge: Drop-In and Ask Zoom Sessions
We developed a new Zoom drop-in opportunity for future students who may not find a scheduled appointment time that meets their needs or who simply have a few quick questions. These monthly sessions offer real-time support in a relaxed virtual setting - no appointment necessary. Now it’s easier than ever for future students to ask questions, get help and move seamlessly through the admissions process.
ESL and GED Classroom Visits
Through strong collaboration with our colleagues who oversee HACC’s English as a Second Language (ESL) and General Education Diploma (GED) programs, we are able to bring opportunities to HACC students who are finishing one stage of their education and looking for what’s next. We offer information sessions towards the end of each ESL and GED class, ensuring these students receive the guidance and encouragement they need to start their college journey.
Engineering Day
This annual hands-on event gives high school students the chance to explore careers in engineering and technology. We once again collaborated with our colleagues in the Office of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development to bring this exciting and engaging event to life at our Harrisburg and Lancaster campuses.
Joint Information Sessions with Student Access Services
By teaming up with the Student Access Services Department, we offered inclusive information sessions that emphasized HACC’s commitment to accessibility and academic support for students with different learning needs. Events were held online and in person at our Harrisburg and Lancaster campuses, helping future students envision their success at HACC.
Take Your Child to Work Day
The Admissions Department joined the fun to spark curiosity and plant early seeds of college awareness among the next generation of HACC learners during this event.
Food for Graduates
To celebrate the accomplishments of 2025 high school graduates, the Admissions Department helped provide refreshments and warm congratulations to several high schools in our service region. We reminded the students that HACC is proud of their accomplishments and ready to support their next steps.
School Visits and Community Events
From high school cafeterias to community college fairs, our team was everywhere. During nearly 200 events, we built relationships, answered questions and made HACC’s presence known across our 11-county service region. We also welcomed group visits from area schools and community organizations, further expanding awareness of HACC in our community.
It’s been a year of energy, impact and innovation, and we’re just getting started. We look forward to building more relationships, developing more events and collaborating with more stakeholders to show that HACC is here, we care and we are ready to help.
